Our distribution on SoundCloud is for Commercial Only. You can learn more about what that means below...
In terms of SoundCloud, our SoundCloud distribution is Commercial Only. When your release is delivered to SoundCloud – Commercial Only, it means:
-
Your track is added to SoundCloud’s commercial catalogue, which powers their paid tiers and ad-supported streaming.
-
You can earn royalties from streams on SoundCloud Go+, SoundCloud’s subscription service, and from advertising revenue on their free tier.
-
Your track becomes part of SoundCloud’s licensable catalogue, used in integrations (e.g. DJ software).
⚠️ Important: This does not automatically publish the track to your personal SoundCloud profile in the same way as uploading a track directly.
Q: Why isn’t my song showing up on my SoundCloud profile?
Distribution to “Commercial Only” sends your track into SoundCloud’s backend catalogue for monetization, but does not create a public upload. To have the track appear on your SoundCloud profile, you’ll need to upload it directly yourself or link it through your SoundCloud for Artists account.
Q: Do I need to distribute to SoundCloud if I already upload tracks myself?
Yes, if you want to monetize your streams through Music Gateway’s distribution. Self-uploading will not automatically enable commercial royalties unless your track is also delivered to the Commercial Only catalogue.
